The most common cause of a no start is a dead battery, but what if you know your battery is good? Loose or broken battery terminals or cables will be among the most common no start issues, followed by bad / dragging starter. If your security light is flashing rapidly the issue could lie in your keys programming or Flash, the chip in your key could be the cause of this issue and may need to be replaced.
You could be experiencing a clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump, no spark, cam or crank sensors, broken timing belt/chain, key not communicating with your ECU (engine computer) or igniton switch, and a faulty Fuel Sending Unit can show your tank having fuel while it is in fact empty. Loose ground wires and electrical faults or open circuits are another common issue with cranking but no start.
Brake pedal goes to the floor? or maybe your hearing a squeeking or grinding sound when you hit your brakes. These issues can be caused by low fuel pressure or insufficient air flow to your intake and are among the most common causes, usually caused by clogged fuel filter or air filter. Your Catalytic converter being clogged or exhaulst system being smashed can cause these issues as well.
You Don't Even Want To Turn The Key until all the water has been removed as this can cause short circuits in your wiring which can burn up any electronic devices such as your vehicles ECM, BCM, TCM and many more very expensive components. In most cases if you find yourself in a situation where your vehicle has been in high water (up to air filter) a mechanic can remove the spark plugs and remove the water that is inside your cylinders before ever trying to start the engine. How ever if you attempt to start the engine without removing the water you take a very high risk of bending a rod or valves, cracking a cylinder head or even the engine block all of which are VERY costly repairs.
Possibilities include a bad ignition coil, faulty or corroded spark plug wire/s, cracked or corroded distributor cap, clogged fuel filter, poor gas quality or water in fuel, or most commonly, the wrong spark plugs have been installed (GM-A/C Delco, Ford-MotorCraft, Dodge-Champion, and Asian-Denso or NGK) Every different manufacturer for spark plugs say they work in all vehicles but in fact will only work properly for a short duration before you start to notice issues.
Can be caused by low coolant, clogged or cracked radiator, busted hoses, faulty thermostat, broken belt, or water pump. Note: continuing to drive your vehicle if it is over heating can and in most cases WILL cause Permanent Engine Damage! If your vehicle is over heating SAFELY pull over and turn your vehicle off immediately!
